Henna and Mehndi

Henna (or mehndi) is an ancient art practiced during all sorts of celebrations in India, North Africa, the Middle-East, and even modern Connecticut. It is made from a ground-up plant leaf (Lawsonia inermis) which is then made into a paste and applied to the hair or skin. The result is a beautiful reddish dye. It cools and protects from sunburn on skin. On hair, it gives strength and an almost polished-looking shine.
